The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has established a new Market Operations Department (MOD) effective April 2, 2025. This department is formed by amalgamating the Domestic Operations Department (DOD) and the Domestic Foreign Exchange Market Division (DFMD), previously under the International Operations Department. All existing regulations, circulars, and operating instructions issued by the Director of the DOD will continue to remain in force.

Establishment of the Market Operations Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
Please be informed that the Market Operations Department (MOD) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) will be established with effect from 02 April 2025 by amalgamating the Domestic Operations Department (DOD) and the Domestic Foreign Exchange Market Division (DFMD), which is currently operated under the International Operations Department (IOD).
With the establishment of the MOD, all existing Regulations, Circulars and Operating Instructions previously issued by the Director of the DOD, shall continue to be in force, unless the context requires otherwise.
