The Central Bank of Libya extends the acceptance period for high-value cheques exceeding 250,000.000 LYD through the (ECC) public sector entities system until June 2018. Issued by the Banking and Contracts Supervision Department, this directive formally instructs commercial banks and the Libyan Foreign Bank to implement the extension based on prior regulatory circulars and a November 2017 internal memo. Financial institutions must continue processing these instruments under the approved framework to ensure uninterrupted settlement operations.

With reference to our Circular Letter No. ARM/N (2012/191) dated 22/07/2012,
regarding the review of electronic clearing and manual settlement rules for implementation in all commercial banks.

And with reference to the letter of Mr./Deputy Director of Payments and Settlements Department at the Central Bank of Libya
dated 05/11/2017, addressed to Mr./Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, regarding approval
for extending the acceptance period for high-value cheques exceeding (250,000.000 LYD), through
public sector entities only, until the end of June 2018. (ECC) System

We inform you of the Central Bank of Libya's approval to extend the operation for high-value cheques exceeding
(250,000.000 LYD), through the (ECC) public sector entities system only, until the end of
June 2018.
