Reserve Bank of India (Regional Rural Banks – Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio) Third Amendment Directions, 2026

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued the Third Amendment Directions, 2026, modifying existing regulations for Regional Rural Banks regarding Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) and Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR). These directions exempt fresh Non-Resident (External) Rupee (NRE) term deposits of three years or more, mobilized between June 19, 2026, and September 30, 2026, from CRR and SLR maintenance. The exemption applies to original deposit amounts held by the bank, with CRR exemption effective from July 16, 2026, but excludes transfers from Non-Resident (Ordinary) (NRO) accounts to NRE accounts.
