The Governing Council of the European Central Bank issued an opinion on 25 February 2026 regarding the Council's recommendation to appoint Boris Vujčić as Vice-President of the ECB. The Council confirmed that the proposed candidate meets the Treaty requirements for recognized standing and professional experience in monetary or banking matters. Consequently, the Governing Council raised no objection to the appointment, which is scheduled to commence on 1 June 2026 for a term of eight years.
