Decision on the Issue of Gold Commemorative Coins to Mark the 120th Anniversary of the National Bank of Serbia

The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issued a decision authorizing the production of 2,000 gold commemorative coins to celebrate the bank's 120th anniversary. The coins are denominated at 1 dinar, weigh 8.640 grams, and feature specific obverse and reverse designs depicting the bank's building and medieval Serbian rulers. Official Gazette of RS, No. 65/2004 Pursuant to Article 21(1) of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (The Official Gazette of the RS, Nos. 72/2003 and 55/2004) and in connection with the Decision on Determining the 120th Anniversary of the National Bank of Serbia as an Event to Be Marked by the Issue of Commemorative Coins in 2004 (The Official Gazette of the RS, No. 51/2004), the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia hereby passes a DECISION ON THE ISSUE OF GOLD COMMEMORATIVE COINS TO MARK THE 120TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NATIONAL BANK OF SERBIA

  1. The National Bank of Serbia shall issue gold commemorative coins in denomination of 1 dinar to mark the 120th anniversary of the National Bank of Serbia.

  2. The National Bank of Serbia shall issue the total of 2000 pieces of the commemorative coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision to the total nominal value of 2,000 dinars.

  3. The commemorative 900/1000 gold coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall be struck in a special proof technique with a highly polished mirror finish background contrasted against a matte finish on the raised parts of the design and shall be 8.640 grams in weight and 25 mm in diameter. Positive tolerance on weight for each commemorative coin referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall be expressed in pro mille above the weight referred to in paragraph 1 of this Section.

  4. The obverse of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall have a depiction of the main building of the National Bank of Serbia in the center with the inscription of the jubilee period íí1884-2004íí below it. On the right from the central motif the nominal value íí1íí shall be indicated with the word íídinaríí written in both Cyrillic and Latin lettering below it.

  5. The reverse of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall bear the image of medieval currency from the period of the Serbian rulers Stefan Uroö II (who is receiving the flag from St Stefanís hands) and the Tsar Duöan (with two angels handing over the tsarís crown to the ruler). Above it there shall be the emblem of the National Bank of Serbia whereas, circling along the edge of the coin, there shall be the inscriptions reading ííNarodnaíí on the left and ííbankaíí on the right side, and the inscription ííSrbijeíí below the central motif, all of which written in Cyrillic lettering.

  6. The coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall have milled edge.

  7. The coins referred to in Section 1 of the present Decision shall be offered for sale at a price fixed by the National Bank of Serbia.

  8. This Decision shall enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of the RS. D. No. 37 Governor June 8, 2004 of the National Bank of Serbia Radovan Jelasic
