Final Report on Guidelines on position calculation under EMIR
ESMA issues final guidelines for Trade Repositories to harmonize position calculations under EMIR Refit standards, replacing previous rules effective from 28 October 2024. The regulator decided to delay the implementation of new position reporting until after the 6-month EMIR Refit transition period to ensure data quality and avoid technical complexities arising from mixed data standards. The updated framework defines consistent methodologies for identifying buyers and sellers, introduces new reporting fields for financial stability monitoring, and decommissions metrics related to negative notional values.
