Treasury Bills (Amendment) (No. 3) Act, 2017

The Government of Belize enacted the Treasury Bills (Amendment) (No. 3) Act, 2017 to modify the principal sums represented by Treasury Bills and Treasury Notes. This legislation amends Section 3(2) of the Treasury Bills Act by reducing the outstanding limit for Treasury Bills from six hundred and fifty million dollars to four hundred million dollars. Simultaneously, the Act increases the outstanding limit for Treasury Notes from five hundred million dollars to one billion dollars.

AN ACT to further amend the Treasury Bills Act, Chapter 83 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2011, to raise the limit of principal sums represented by Treasury Bills and Treasury Notes outstanding at any one time; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

BE IT ENACTED, by and with the advice and consent of the House of Representatives and the Senate of Belize and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

  1. This Act may be cited as the Short title.

TREASURY BILLS (AMENDMENT) (NO. 3) ACT, 2017,

CAP. 83. and shall be read and construed as one with the Treasury Bills Act 2/2016 Act which, as amended, is hereinafter referred to as the Act 18/2016 principal Act.

Amendment 2. Section 3(2) of the principal Act is hereby amended, of section 3.

(a) in paragraph (a), by deleting the words “six hundred and fifty million dollars’ and substituting therefor the words “four hundred million dollars”;

(b) in paragraph (b), by deleting the words “five hundred million dollars” substituting therefor the words “one billion dollars”.
