Decision on Issuance and Main Features of Numismatic Money with the Portrait of Nikola Tesla

RS Official Gazette, No 110/2023 Pursuant to Article 18, paragraph 1, item 3) and Article 57а, paragraph 1 of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (RS Official Gazette, Nos 72/2003, 55/2004, 85/2005 – other law, 44/2010, 76/2012, 106/2012, 14/2015, 40/2015 ‒ CC decision and 44/2018), the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia hereby issues D E C I S I O N ON ISSUANCE AND MAIN FEATURES OF NUMISMATIC MONEY WITH THE PORTRAIT OF NIKOLA TESLA

1. The National Bank of Serbia shall issue numismatic money with the portrait of Nikola Tesla in the denomination of:

1. 100 dinars, with “2023” as the year of minting – second issue, 210,000 pieces in the total nominal value of RSD 21,000,000.00;
2. 100 dinars, with “2023” as the year of minting – third issue, 210,000 pieces in the total nominal value of RSD 21,000,000.00.

2. The numismatic money referred to in Section 1 of this Decision shall be made of silver, 99.95% fineness, 31.10 g in weight and 40.20 mm in diameter, in the following minting techniques:

1. 10,000 pieces each in the special (“proof”) technique, with high-gloss flat surfaces and matte relief details of commemorative motifs;
2. 200,000 pieces each in the special (“high-gloss”) technique, with high-gloss surfaces. The weight of each individual piece of numismatic money referred to in paragraph 1 of this Section may deviate +1/-0% from the weight stated in that paragraph. The diameter of each individual numismatic money piece referred to in paragraph 1 of this Section may deviate ±0.05 mm from the diameter stated in that paragraph.

3. The design of the obverse of the numismatic money from Section 1 hereof shall be as follows: the central part features the portrait of Nikola Tesla in a right semi-profile, with the words “Nikola Tesla” running above the portrait, in Latin script on the left and in Cyrillic script on the right. Below the portrait, in a straight line, runs the wording “ELECTRICAL VISIONARY”, while along the rim, in a semi-circular line, runs the wording “POWERING THE FUTURE”. Featured between these wordings is the stylized sign of the lightning.

2 4. The design of the reverse of the numismatic money from Section 1, item 1) of this Decision shall be as follows: the central motif is a drawing of the electric car. Above the central motif, runs the wording “ANTI-GRAVITY”. The first line below the central motif features the wording “AETHER INTO SPACE DRIVE”, the second line designates the year of minting “2023” and the third line includes the wording “NBS” in both Latin and Cyrillic script, separated by a dot. The design of the reverse of the numismatic money from Section 1, item 2) of this Decision shall be as follows: the central part features a depiction of Tesla coil. Above the central motif, runs the wording “THE TESLA COIL”. In the first line below the central motif, runs the wording “HIGH VOLTAGE - LOW CURRENT”, the second line includes the wording “AC OSCILLATOR”, the third line designates the year of minting “2023”, and the fourth line includes the wording “NBS” in both Latin and Cyrillic script, separated by a dot. In the upper half of the reverse of the numismatic money referred to in Section 1 of this Decision, above the central motif from paragraphs 1 and 2 of this Section, the wording “REPUBLIKA SRBIJA” runs in a semicircle, in Latin script on the left and in Cyrillic script on the right, while the central part features the Great Coat-of-Arms of the Republic of Serbia. In the lower half, below the central motif, the wording “1 oz .999 SILVER” runs in a semicircle on the left. To the right of this wording, separated by a dot, runs the wording “DINARA 100 ДИНАРА”. The wordings run in a semicircle in the upper and lower halves of the reverse of the money referred to herein, and are separated by dots. 5. Along the rim of the numismatic money from Section 1 hereof there are vertical rounded reeds of 0.20 mm in diameter. 6. The National Bank of Serbia shall sell the numismatic money referred to in Section 1 of this Decision at a price it determines. 7. This Decision shall enter into force on the eighth day following its publication in the RS Official Gazette. D.
