CMA to review ETF and Depository Receipts Guidelines as well as Licensing Regulations

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is reviewing its Licensing and Approval Regulations and drafting new guidelines for Exchange Traded Funds and Depository Receipts to align with the 2016 CMA Amendment Act. These regulatory updates aim to eliminate duplicative procedures, harmonize licensing criteria with other financial sector regulators, and support the integration of the East African Community market. The draft regulations and guidelines have been approved for stakeholder consultation and will undergo final board approval before being gazetted.
