INVITATION OF STAKEHOLDERS COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT CREDIT GUARANTEE CORPORATION REGULATIONS, 2026 The United Republic of Tanzania, is in the process of transforming the existing Credit Guarantee Schemes (CGSs) currently administered by the Bank of Tanzania, into an independent Credit Guarantee Corporation (CGC). The transformation aims at enhancing access to finance and promoting growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The Corporation will jointly be owned by the United Republic of Tanzania and private sector. To operationalize these reforms, the Bank of Tanzania has developed the Banking and Financial Institutions (Credit Guarantee Corporation) Regulations, 2026, which establish the legal, regulatory, and supervisory framework for the Corporation. In that regard, the Bank of Tanzania hereby invites comments from stakeholders and the general public on the proposed Regulations. The deadline for submission of comments is 2nd June 2026.
