Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 2000

The Bahamas enacted this Act to establish legal mechanisms for international cooperation in criminal proceedings and investigations. It empowers the Attorney-General to serve legal process overseas, obtain Bahamian evidence for foreign courts, and enforce overseas forfeiture orders. The legislation further implements the Vienna Convention by defining jurisdiction and enforcement powers for drug offences on Bahamian-registered ships and authorizing the transfer of prisoners to assist in domestic or foreign criminal proceedings.
