Seychelles Gambling (Capping of Slot Machine and Casino Licenses) Regulations, 2022
The Minister responsible for Finance has issued regulations capping the number of casino and slot machine licenses across specified Seychelles regions. These regional caps exclude tourist establishments and enterprises, such as large hotels with fifty-one or more rooms. Where regional limits remain unmet, the regulatory Authority must issue public invitations for new applications, which are published in daily newspapers and on its official website.
[7th November 2022] Seychelles Gambling Act 1910 REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES SUPPLEMENT TO OFFICIAL GAZETTE SI S.I. 119 of 2022 SEYCHELLES GAMBLING ACT, 2014 (Act 29 of 2014) Seychelles Gambling Capping of Slot Machine and Casino Licenses Regulations, 2022 In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 56, read with section 4(2), of the Seychelles Gambling Act, 2014, the Minister responsible for Finance, hereby makes the following regulations — Citation These Regulations may be cited as Seychelles Gambling (Capping of Slot Machine and Casino Licenses) Regulations, 2022. Interpretation
- In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires — “tourist establishments and enterprises” means large hotels and marinas. “large hotel” means a hotel comprising of 51 rooms or more. Restriction on number of licenses 3.(1) There shall be a restriction on the number of casino and slot machine licenses in different regions as detailed in the Schedules. (2) The restriction referred to in subregulation (1) shall not apply in relation to licenses issued to tourist establishments and enterprises. (3) Further to subregulation (1), where the maximum number of licenses is not met in a specified region, the Authority shall make a public invitation for prospective applicants to submit an application for Casino licenses or Slot machine licenses respectively. (4) The invitation for application under subregulation (3), shall be published in a daily newspaper and on the Authority's website.
