The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issued a decision authorizing the production and circulation of 2-dinar coins. The regulation specifies that the coins must weigh 5.15 grams with a 22 mm diameter, composed of an alloy containing 75% copper, 0.5% nickel, and 24.5% zinc. It further mandates precise design elements, including the Gracanica monastery on the obverse and the Great Coat-of-Arms of the Republic of Serbia on the reverse, with the decision entering into force one day after publication in the Official Gazette.
"RS Official Gazette", No.114/2006 Pursuant to Article 55, paragraph 1 of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia ("RS Official Gazette", Nos. 72/2003 and 55/2004), Governor of the National Bank of Serbia hereby issues D E C I S I O N ОN THE ISSUE AND MAIN FEATURES OF 2-DINAR COINS
The National Bank of Serbia shall issue 2-dinar coins.
Coins referred to in Section 1 hereof shall be made of alloy composed of copper (75%), nickel (0.5%) and zinc (24.5%).
Coins referred to in Section 1 hereof shall weigh 5.15 g, and their diameter shall be 22 mm. Allowed deviation from the weight of each individual coin referred to in paragraph 1 hereof shall be ±2.5%.
The front (obverse) of coins referred to in Section 1 hereof features as its central motif a relief depiction of the Gracanica monastery and above it the word "dinar" written in Latin and Cyrillic letters. On the left from the central image, there is numeral value of the coin "2", and below the central image - the year of issue "2006"; between these two and along the coin edges the word "Gracanica" is written in a semicircle in Cyrillic letters.
The back (reverse) of coins referred to in Section 1 hereof features as its central motif the Great Coat-of-Arms of the Republic of Serbia. The text "REPUBLIC OF SERBIA", separated by hyphens, is written above and around it in Latin and Cyrillic letters. Below the coat-of-arms, "NBS" is written in the same way as the above; this lettering is mutually separated by hyphens, whereas it is separated from the lettering "REPUBLIC OF SERBIA" by dots.
The outer edge of coins referred to in Section 1 hereof is divided into circular arches of 72 degrees which run along the circumference of the coin with alternating strips of smooth surface and ridges of 0.15 mm in radius.
