A circular dated April 6, 2026 regarding ensuring that non-bank credit granting bodies declare their clients’ indebtedness.

The Central Bank of Egypt mandates that banks must verify the registration and reporting status of non-bank credit providers with both the Central Bank and the Egyptian Credit Bureau before granting or renewing any credit facilities. Failure by these entities to regularize their reporting status within a three-month grace period will trigger the liquidation of their existing credit balances. Banks are officially instructed to notify their non-bank credit clients regarding these regulatory requirements and the consequences of non-compliance.
