This circular, dated July 15, 2009, from the Director of Banking Supervision, instructs all banks and discount houses in Nigeria to submit daily returns on their CBN-guaranteed and unguaranteed interbank placements and takings, including those of their subsidiaries. The information should be submitted electronically by 10:00 AM of the following working day to bsdeptmailing@cenbank.org using the provided reporting format. Interbank contractual obligations prior to the CBN guarantee program must also be reported separately. This circular takes effect on July 16, 2009.
09-46235401 09-46236408 July 15, 2009 Ref: BSD/DIR/GEN/CIR/03/014 CIRCULAR TO ALL BANKS AND DISCOUNT HOUSES DAILY RETURNS ON INTERBANK PLACEMENTS AND TAKINGS Following the Circular Ref: BSD/DIR/GEN/CIR/03/012 dated July 13, 2009, it has become imperative to obtain on a daily basis relevant information on interbank placements and takings among banks and discount houses.
Consequently, banks and discount houses are required to submit the daily returns on their CBN guaranteed and unguaranteed interbank placements and takings (including those of their subsidiaries) as specified in the attached format. The daily returns should be mailed electronically to the e-mail addresss: bsdeptmailing@cenbank.org on or before 10.00 am of the following working day.
In addition, all interbank contractual obligations entered into prior to the CBN guarantee programme should be aggregated ad forwarded separately as per attached format. The effective date of this circular is Thursday, July 16, 2009.
