The Palestine Monetary Authority issued Circular No. 193/2016 to implement a new credit reporting system that enhances transparency and protects financial consumers by granting citizens the right to access and dispute their credit data through lending institution branches. To prepare for the official launch, all lending institutions operating in Palestine must nominate a qualified staff member to participate in a dedicated system testing workshop and subsequent training. Institutions are required to submit the proposed employee's name to the Authority within three working days of the circular's issuance.
Circular No. (193/2016)
To all lending institutions operating in Palestine
Date: Sunday, October 30, 2016
In line with the Palestine Monetary Authority's efforts to enhance the principles of disclosure and transparency and protect the rights of financial and banking service consumers, the new credit reporting system has been developed. This system will grant citizens the right to obtain a copy of their credit reports and to dispute the data contained therein through the branches of the lending institutions with which they interact.
With the aim of testing the new system, we request that you nominate a suitable representative from the relevant departments to participate in a dedicated workshop. This initiative aims to train the selected employees on the system's usage mechanism to conduct a preliminary test prior to its official launch. Please note that a training schedule for the trial participants will be determined at a later date. Accordingly, we request that you provide us with the name of a proposed employee to carry out the aforementioned trial within three working days from the date of this circular.
