Notice: Micro Business Companies Act, 2017

The Minister of Finance of the Virgin Islands issued a statutory instrument under the Micro Business Companies Act, 2017 to appoint the effective date for the legislation. This notice formally declares that the Act shall come into force on the 4th day of June, 2018. The appointment was made by Dr. D. Orlando Smith on May 25, 2018, pursuant to the powers vested in the Minister by section 1(2) of the Act.

VIRGIN ISLANDS STATUTORY INSTRUMENT 2018 NO. 23 MICRO BUSINESS COMPANIES ACT, 2017 (No. 26 of 2017) NOTICE MADE BY THE MINISTER OF FINANCE UNDER SECTION 1(2) OF THE MICRO BUSINESS COMPANIES ACT, 2017 DECLARING THE DATE ON WHICH THE SAID ACT SHALL COME INTO FORCE [Gazetted 31st May, 2018] WHEREAS it is provided by section 1(2) of the Micro Business Companies Act, 2017 (No. 26 of 2017) that the said Act shall come into force on such date as the Minister may, by Notice published in the Gazette, appoint; NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers vested in me, I hereby appoint the 4 th day of June, 2018 to be the date on which the Micro Business Companies Act, 2017 shall come into force.
