CMA and Uganda Police Increase Collaboration to Investigate Capital Markets Offences
The Capital Markets Authority of Uganda has committed to enhancing collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate of the Uganda Police to improve the investigation and enforcement of capital markets offences. This partnership aims to combat rising fraudulent activities, including unlicensed investment schemes and Ponzi schemes, by leveraging police expertise in criminal investigations. The initiative includes capacity-building training for police officers and emphasizes the necessity of close coordination with the Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure swift enforcement actions and protect investor confidence.
