Insurance Act 2008 (Appointed Day) (No. 3) Order 2010

The Insurance and Pensions Authority issued this Order to bring specific provisions of the Insurance Act 2008 into operation on 1st July 2010. The commencement includes sections regarding the continuation and discontinuation of insurers, amendments to the Companies (Transfer of Domicile) Act 1998, and the repeal of enactments from the Insurance Act 1986 and the Insurance (Amendment) Act 1995. Consequently, the Insurance Act 1986 is fully repealed, leaving only section 25(3)(d)(i) of the 2008 Act unenforced.

Statutory Document No. 442/10 INSURANCE ACT 2008 INSURANCE ACT 2008 (APPOINTED DAY) (NO. 3) ORDER 2010 Laid before Tynwald 19th October 2010 The Insurance and Pensions Authority makes this Order under section 59 of the Insurance Act 20081. 1 Title This Order is the Insurance Act 2008 (Appointed Day) (No. 3) Order 2010. 2 Interpretation In this Order, "the Act" means the Insurance Act 2008. 3 Commencement of provisions The following provisions of the Act come into operation on 1st July 2010 — (a) section 42(1) and (2) and Schedule 4 (continuation and discontinuation of certain insurers); (b) paragraphs 20 and 21 of Schedule 8 (amendment of Companies (Transfer of Domicile) Act 19982) and section 56 insofar as it relates to those provisions; (c) section 57 and Schedule 9 (repeal of enactments) insofar as they relate to the repeal of the following provisions — (i) section 25A of, and Schedule 3A to, the Insurance Act 19863 (continuation and discontinuation of certain insurers); and 2008 c.16 2 1998 c,6 3 1986 c.24 Price £0.50

(ii) the Insurance (Amendment) Act 19954. 5 Consequential provisions (1) Article 6(1) of the Insurance Act 2008 (Appointed Day) (No. 2) Order 2008$ is spent and ceases to have effect. (2) The Insurance Act 1986 is repealed for all purposes and consequently article 6(3) of the Insurance Act 2008 (Appointed Day) (No. 2) Order 2008 is spent and ceases to have effect. MADE 21St June 2010 Chairman, urance and Pensions Authority EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into operation further provisions of the Insurance Act 2008 on 1st July 2010. Upon commencement of the provisions in this Order, the whole of the Act will be in operation except for section 25(3)(d)(i) (in relation to certain matters).
