The Governor of the Virgin Islands issued this proclamation to appoint the effective date for the Insurance Act, 2008. Exercising powers under Section 1(2) of the Act, the Governor declared that the legislation shall come into force on February 1, 2010. All subjects are required to take note of this date and govern themselves accordingly.

WHEREAS it is provided by section 1(2) of the Insurance Act, 2008 (No. 1 of 2008) that the said Act shall come into force on such date as the Governor may, by Proclamation published in the Gazette, appoint; NOW THEREFORE, by virtue and in exercise of the power vested in me, I do hereby proclaim that the said Insurance Act, 2008 shall come into force on the 1st day of February, 2010. AND all Her Majesty’s loving subjects are hereby required to take note hereof and govern themselves accordingly. GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Virgin Islands at the Governor’s Office in Tortola, in the Virgin Islands this 22nd day of December, 2009 and in the fifty-seventh year of Her Majesty’s reign.
