SDAD Circular Letter No. 08: Keeping Bank Branches Operational on Saturdays During Mango Season

Bangladesh Bank’s Securities and Depository Administration Department (SDAD) has issued Circular Letter No. 08 mandating that bank branches in designated mango-producing districts of the Rajshahi division remain open on Saturdays throughout the mango season until 31 May 2026. The directive requires banks to ensure adequate cash supply and ATM services while submitting necessary operational arrangements for regulatory compliance. Banks are further authorized to exercise powers under Section 45 of the Companies Act, 1991 to serve public interest in implementing these measures.

To, Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of all Banks

Subject: It is necessary to keep bank branches open on Saturdays during the mango season.

In this regard,

  1. Bank branches located in the districts/upazilas of Rajshahi division, specifically Chapai Nawabganj (Chapainawabganj district, Gomastapur and Bera upazilas), Naogaon (Sapahar, Patnitala and Niamatpur upazilas), Rajshahi and Natore districts, where permanent/temporary mango orchards are established, are required to remain open on Saturdays until 31 May 2026 during the mango season. To ensure this, banks are advised to submit necessary information regarding cash supply/ATM services and operational arrangements for the mango season. This circular is issued for necessary action by all concerned.

  2. Banks may exercise the powers granted under Section 45 of the Companies Act, 1991 for public interest.
