Decision on the Issue and Main Features of the Coins in Denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 Dinars

The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issued this decision to authorize the production of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 dinar coins. The regulation specifies that the coins must be minted from a copper-nickel-zinc alloy and defines precise weight, diameter, and tolerance standards for each denomination. It further mandates specific reverse designs featuring the National Bank of Serbia logo and distinct obverse imagery depicting Serbian cultural landmarks such as the Gracanica, Krusedol, Studenica monasteries, and the St. Sava shrine.

Official Gazette of RS, No. 65/2003 Pursuant to Article 16a paragraph 2 and Article 50. paragraph 1 of the Law on the National Bank of Yugoslavia (Official Gazette of FRY, No. 32/93, 41/94, 61/95, 29/97, 44/99 and 73/2000), the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia hereby brings a DECISION ON THE ISSUE AND MAIN FEATURES OF THE COINS IN DENOMINATIONS OF 1, 2, 5, 10 AND 20 DINARS

  1. The National Bank of Serbia shall issue coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 dinars.
  2. The coins referred to in Section 1 of the present decision shall be coined from the alloy composed of 70% copper, 12% nickel and 18 zinc.
  3. Coins referred to in Section 1 of the present decision shall have the following weight and diameter:
  1. 1 dinar coin weight: 4.34g diameter: 20mm
  2. 2 dinar coin weight: 5.24g diameter: 22mm
  3. 5 dinar coin weight: 6.23g diameter: 24mm
  4. 10 dinar coin weight: 7.77g diameter: 26mm
  5. 20 dinar coin weight: 9.00g diameter: 28mm The allowed deviation from the weight of each individual coin referred to in Section 1 of the present decision is +/-2.5%.
  1. The image on the face of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present decision shall be as follows: • The 1 dinar coin shall have the relief image of the National Bank of Serbia as a central in the centre, with the work ‘dinar’ written in Latin and Cyrillic letters above it. On the left from the central image, there shall be the mark of denomination ‘1’, and bellow the central image there shall be the inscription of the year of coinage, ‘2003’. • The 2-dinar coin shall have the relief image of the Gracanica monastery as its central image, with the word ‘dinara’ inscribed in Latin and Cyrillic letters above it. On the left from the main image there shall be the mark of denomination ‘2’, and between them, in a semicircle following the edge of the coin, there shall be the inscription reading: ‘Gracanica’. • The 5-dinar coin shall have the relief image of monastery of Krusedol in the centre, and the word ‘dinara’ above it, written in Cyrillic and Latin letters, whereas at the bottom there shall be the year of coinage, ‘2003’. On the left side there shall be the mark of denomination ‘5’, and between the denomination mark and the year of coinage, in a semicircle along the edge of the coin, there shall be the inscription reading: ‘Krusedol’.

• The 10 dinar coin shall have the relief image of the Studenica monastery in the central position, with word ‘dinara’ written in Cyrillic and Latin letters above it, and the year of coinage, ‘2003’, below it. On the left side there shall be the mark of denomination ‘10’, and between the denomination mark and the year of coinage, in a semicircle along the edge of the coin, there should be the inscription reading: ‘Studenica’. • The 20 dinar coin shall have the relief image of the St. Sava shrine in the centre, with word ‘dinara’ written in Cyrillic and Latin letters above it, and the year of coinage, ‘2003’, inscribed below it. On the left side there shall be the mark of denomination, ‘20’, and between the denomination mark and the year of coinage, in a semicircle along the edge of the coin, there shall be the inscription reading: ‘St. Sava’. 5. The features on the reverse of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present decision are the following: the logo of the National Bank of Serbia is the main motif, whereas below it there should be the inscription reading ‘National Bank of Serbia’ in Cyrillic and Latin letters separated by a dots. 6. The rim of the coins referred to in Section 1 of the present decision shall have engraved strips divided by vertical ridges. 7. The present decision shall come into effect the following day after publication in the ‘Official Gazette of the RS’. Dec.
