Decision on the Issuance, Basic Characteristics, and Circulation of 1 and 2 Convertible Mark Coins

CENTRAL BANK OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Pursuant to Article 2(3)(h), Article 7(e), Articles 39 and 42 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of BiH”, No. 1/97) and the Decision of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina of December 8, 1999, on the design of coins, the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina at its 11th session held on June 23 and 28, 2000, hereby adopts

DECISION

ON THE ISSUANCE, BASIC CHARACTERISTICS, AND CIRCULATION OF 1 AND 2 CONVERTIBLE MARK COINS

  1. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: the Central Bank) shall issue coins in denominations of 1 and 2 Convertible Marks (hereinafter: KM), as legal tender for cash payments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

  2. The 1 KM coin shall be manufactured from nickel-plated steel alloy, and the 2 KM coin shall be made of two metals: an inner ring of copper-nickel and an outer ring of 5.5% nickel-copper and zinc alloy (brass).

  3. The coin denominations specified in point 1 of this Decision shall be circular and shall have the following technical characteristics:

  1. 1 KM denomination - mass 4.90 grams, diameter 23.25 millimeters, and a reeded smooth edge with an average thickness of 1.80 millimeters and an average tolerance of +/- 0.1 millimeter;
  2. 2 KM denomination - mass 6.90 grams, diameter 25.75 millimeters, and a reeded smooth edge with an average thickness of 2.03 millimeters and an average tolerance of +/- 0.1 millimeter.
  1. The obverse design of the coin denominations specified in point 1 of this Decision is as follows: In the center is the numerical value, and below the numerical value is the letter designation “KM”. Surrounding the numerical value is the name “Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which for the 1 KM denomination is written to the right of the numerical value in Latin script and to the left in Cyrillic script, while for the 2 KM denomination the name “Bosnia and Herzegovina” is inscribed within the outer ring, to the right of the numerical value in Cyrillic script and to the left in Latin script, separated by one triangle for the 1 KM denomination and two triangles for the 2 KM denomination.

  2. The reverse design of the coin denominations specified in point 1 of this Decision is as follows:

  1. for the 1 KM denomination, the coat of arms of Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the center, and below the coat of arms is the numerical designation “2000”. Surrounding the coat of arms, on the right and left sides, is a decorative pattern separated by one triangle;
  2. for the 2 KM denomination, a dove holding an olive branch in its beak is in the center, and to the right of the dove is the numerical designation “2000”. Within the outer ring, the words “dove of peace” are inscribed: to the right of the dove in Cyrillic script and to the left in Latin script, separated by two triangles.
  1. The date of putting the coins specified in point 1 of this Decision into circulation shall be determined and published by the Governor of the Central Bank.

  2. This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its publication in the “Official Gazette of BiH”, and shall also be published in the “Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH” and the “Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska”.
