Notice of Workshop on Foreign Exchange Management Issues Holding at the Gateway Hotels, Abeokuta , Ogun State , from 30th October to 2nd November, 2006.

The Central Bank of Nigeria is hosting a workshop on foreign exchange management issues from October 30 to November 2, 2006 at the Gateway Hotels in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The event will cover topics such as roles of authorized dealers and regulators, challenges of a liberalized foreign exchange market, destination inspection matters arising, and e-Fass returns submission. It consists of two consecutive runs, each spanning over two days for participants involved in banks' staff dealing with foreign exchange and treasury functions. The workshop fee is N45,000 per participant, covering materials, lunch, tea/coffee, and snacks but excluding accommodation and other meals. A 10% discount on normal room rates at Gateway Hotels is available for participants. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with payment due by October 27, 2006.

NOTICE OF WORKSHOP ON FOREIGN EXCHANGE MANAGEMENT ISSUES HOLDING AT THE GATEWAY HOTELS, ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, FROM 30TH OCTOBER TO 2ND NOVEMBER, 2006 This is to inform all Authorised Dealers that the year 2006 Workshop on Foreign Exchange Management Issues has been scheduled to hold at the Gateway Hotels, Abeokuta, Ogun State between Monday, October 30 and Thursday, November 2, 2006 with the theme: "Liberalised Foreign Exchange Market - Prospects and Challenges".

The Workshop will hold in two runs of two (2) days each for banks' staff involved in foreign exchange and treasury functions. It will focus on current issues in foreign exchange management such as: The Roles of Authorised Dealers and Regulators in a Liberalised Foreign Exchange Market; The Challenges of a Liberalised Foreign Exchange Market; Destination Inspection - Matters Arising; Rendition of Returns using e-Fass, etc. Presentations will be made by experts and seasoned practitioners in the fields of Banking, Economics, Finance, International Trade, etc. The programme commences 9.00 a.m. daily except on the first day when registration will start at 8.00 a.m. The Workshop attracts a fee of ₦45,000.00 per participant and covers workshop bag and materials, group lunch, tea/coffee and snacks, but excludes accommodation and other meals. Arrangement has, however, been made with the Gateway Hotels, Abeokuta for a 10% discount on normal room rates for workshop participants. Authorised Dealers are enjoined to forward names of their nominees together with bank draft for ₦45,000.00 per nominee, to the Assistant Director, Foreign Exchange Management Office, Trade & Exchange Department, Central Bank of Nigeria, Abuja or the Senior Manager, Policy Monitoring Office, Trade & Exchange Department, Lagos on or before October 27, 2006. The draft should be made payable to "Central Bank of Nigeria - FEM Training Account".

Please note that participation will be on the basis of first-come, first-served. Authorised Dealers are, however, encouraged to nominate more than one nominee and spread them between the two runs. For the avoidance of doubt, only participants who have paid on or before the deadline stated above will be allowed to attend the Workshop. Thank you for a prompt response.
