Conditions for Establishing Agencies, Counters, Representation Offices and Subsidiaries of Credit Institutions
The Bank of the Republic of Burundi issued Circular No. 10/2018 to establish and update the prudential, operational, and security conditions for credit institutions opening agencies, counters, representation offices, and subsidiaries domestically or abroad. The regulation mandates prior authorization, specific financial ratios, profitability studies, robust internal controls, and prompt incident reporting to the Central Bank. It supersedes Circular No. 10/06 and takes effect upon publication on the Central Bank’s website and in the Official Gazette.
