Addendum to Consumer Protection Code 2012 - August 2017

The Central Bank of Ireland amends the Consumer Protection Code 2012 to implement national discretions under Directive 2014/65/EU (MiFID II) for firms regulated under the Investment Intermediaries Act 1995. The amendments impose additional requirements on these entities regarding the use of the term 'independent', the presentation of past and simulated performance in advertising, and the recording of client communications. Furthermore, the document introduces new provisions for conflict of interest disclosures, target market assessments, and remuneration standards to ensure consumer protection during the transition to MiFID II regulations.
