Supervisor of Banks: Banking Legislation Introduction

The Supervisor of Banks issued this document to introduce a folder containing banking legislation not included in other regulatory collections. The folder currently comprises the Banking Ordinance of 1941 and two 1981 laws regarding licensing and customer service, with plans to add future amendments. The text serves as an unofficial English translation for the banking community, noting that the Hebrew legal text remains the only binding version.

Supervisor of Banks: Banking Legislation Introduction page 100 -1 Banking Legislation Introduction a. This folder contains banking legislation which is not included in any other Supervisor of Banks folders. The folder is intended for the use of the banking community, as well as others who are interested in this information. b. Currently, the folder includes the 3 main Banking Laws:

  • Banking Ordinance, 1941.
  • Banking (Licensing) Law, 5741-1981.
  • Banking (Service to Customer) Law, 5741-1981. In the future we intend to add additional parts of the legislation. c. In addition to this file, there are 3 additional folders issued by the Supervisor of Banks:
  • Proper Conduct of Banking Business.
  • Reporting to the Public.
  • Reporting to the Supervision Department. d. This folder will be updated to include all future amendments to the legislation. e. The text in this file constitutes an unofficial translation.
