Financial Institutions (Foreign Currency Exposure) (Amendment) Regulations 2009
The Central Bank issued these 2009 regulations to amend the Financial Institutions (Foreign Currency Exposure) Regulations by removing the term "net" from key definitions and Schedule 1. Regulation 5 is substituted to establish strict capital ratio limits, capping the total long position at twenty percent and the total short position at thirty percent. The amended rules commenced on 9 March 2009, with the revised ratio limits taking effect on 1 July 2009.
[9th March 2009] Supplement to Official Gazette S.I. 34 of 2009 161 FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ACT, 2004 (Act 14 0{2004) Financial Institutions (Foreign Currency Exposure) (Amendment) Regulations, 2009 In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 27 and 32 of the Financial Institutions Act, 2004, the Central Bank hereby makes the following Regulations1. These Regulations may be cited as the Financial Citation Institutions (Foreign Currency Exposure) (Amendment) Regulations, 2009. 2.(1) Except for regulation 3(b), theseregulations come into Commencement operation on the 9th March 2009. (2) Regulation 3(b) comes into operation on the 1st July 2009. 3. The Financial Institutions (Foreign Currency Exposure) Regulations, 2009. are amended as follows- (a) in regulation 2, by repealing the word "net" wherever it appears in the fo llowing definitions =- (i) "net long position"; (ii) "net shortposition"; (iii) "overall foreign currency risk exposure" (iv) "shorthand method"; (v) "total net long position"; and (vi) .
