Adjustments to Government Securities Auction Bidding Thresholds
The Bank of Zambia has adjusted the maximum non-competitive bid threshold for government securities auctions from K29,000 to K499,000 and the minimum competitive bid threshold from K30,000 to K500,000 per bidder per maturity tenor. These revised thresholds, effective 13 September 2021, realign bidding limits with twenty years of inflation and evolving auction sizes. The changes aim to enhance financial inclusion by encouraging wider participation from smaller retail investors in the non-competitive window.
