Directive No. 09/DSB/96 on the Sale of Traveler's Checks by Financial Institutions and Exchange Offices

The Banking Supervision Directorate of the Bank of Angola requires Commercial Banks and Exchange Offices to submit a weekly statement on traveler's check sales, detailing beneficiary names, currency values, passport numbers, and passage ticket numbers. Statements covering each Friday must be delivered by 10:30 a.m. the following Monday using the attached template. This directive takes immediate effect and supersedes Directive No. 6/DSB/96 dated August 1, 1996.

DIRECTIVE NO. 09/DSB/96 SUBJECT: FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS EXCHANGE OFFICES Sale of Traveler's Checks

By order of His Excellency the Governor of the Bank of Angola, and within the scope of changes to foreign exchange policy defined by the Government, Commercial Banks and Exchange Offices must submit a weekly statement (according to the attached template) to the Banking Supervision Directorate, specifying:

  • Name of the beneficiary
  • Value of the currency sold
  • Passport Number
  • Passage Ticket Number

The data included in the aforementioned statement will pertain to every Friday and must be submitted to the Banking Supervision Directorate no later than 10:30 a.m. on the following Monday.

This Directive takes effect immediately and revokes Directive No. 6/DSB/96, dated August 1, 1996.
