The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia issued a decision authorizing the production of commemorative gold and silver coins to mark the bicentenary of Dositej Obradovic’s arrival in Serbia. The decree specifies the issuance of 500 gold coins valued at 5,000 dinars and 1,000 silver coins valued at 1,000 dinars, detailing their precise metallurgical composition, weight, dimensions, and design motifs. These coins are to be sold at prices determined by the National Bank of Serbia and the decision entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
“RS Official Gazette”, No. 68/2007 Pursuant to Article 21, paragraph 1 of the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (“RS Official Gazette”, Nos. 72/2003 and 55/2004), and with reference to the Decision on Determining the Bicentenary of Dositej Obradovic’s Coming to Serbia (“RS Official Gazette”, No. 67/2007), the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia hereby issues the following D E C I S I O N ON ISSUING COMMEMORATIVE COINS ON THE OCCASION OF THE BICENTENARY OF DOSITEJ OBRADOVIC’S COMING TO SERBIA
Allowed deviation from the weight of each individual commemorative silver coin referred to in paragraph 1 hereof shall be up to 1‰ (pro mille) above the weight specified therein.
2 5. The obverse of commemorative coins referred to in Section 1 hereof features as its central motif the portrait of Dositej Obradovic in left semi-profile. On the left from the portrait, there is a rectangle containing the years of Dositej Obradovic’s birth and death “1739–1811” in two rows, while the year of minting “2007” is below the portrait. The words “Dositej Obradovic” are written in Cyrillic letters in a semicircle above the portrait, while the words: “Iduc uci, u vekove gleda” are written in Cyrillic letters in a semicircle below the portrait, separated from the preceding lettering by a dot. 6. The reverse of commemorative coins referred to in Section 1 hereof features as its central motif the coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia, with nominal value inscribed below the coat of arms. Letters “Д” (left) and “D” (right) are written on the left and on the right from the inscription of nominal value. The text “Republika Srbija” is written above and around the coat of arms in Latin and Cyrillic letters separated by hyphens. Below the inscription of nominal value, the text “NBS” is written in Cyrillic and Latin letters separated by hyphens and separated from the lettering “Republika Srbija” by dots. 7. The outer edge of commemorative coins referred to in Section 1 hereof shall be divided into circular arches of 72 degrees which run along the circumference of the coin with alternating strips of smooth surface and ridges of 0.15 mm in radius. 8. Commemorative coins referred to in Section 1 hereof shall be sold at the price set by the National Bank of Serbia. 9. This decision shall enter into force on the day following the day of its publication in the “RS Official Gazette”.
