The Central Bank of Libya designates Sunday, February 18, as an official holiday for all operating commercial banks through Circular Letter No. 35/2018, effectively replacing the Saturday observance of February 17. This directive, grounded in Law No. 1 of 2005 and Article 17 of the Labor Relations Executive Regulations, authorizes compensation for weekly holidays coinciding with official holidays and mandates compliance across all supervised commercial banks. The order, issued by the Director of Banks and Currency Supervision, formally updates banking sector holiday schedules while extending seasonal congratulations to employees on the seventh anniversary of the February 17 Revolution.

Greetings...
Based on the provisions of Law No. (1) of 2005 concerning Banks and its amendments,
and on the supervisory and monitoring role exercised by the Central Bank of Libya over commercial banks in accordance with the law.
And referring to Law No. (5) of 2012 concerning Official Holidays, and in accordance with Article 17 of the Executive Regulations for the Labor Relations Law which states "compensation may be granted for weekly holidays if they coincide with official holidays".
Therefore, we inform you that it has been decided that Sunday, February 18, shall be an official holiday in all operating commercial banks, replacing "February 17" which falls on a Saturday.
And taking this opportunity, we extend our congratulations to you and all workers in the banking sector on the seventh anniversary of the February 17 Revolution.
