The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) of Uganda is intensifying its partnership with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Uganda Police Force to enhance the investigation and prosecution of capital markets offences. This collaboration involves training more than 300 CID officers and prosecutors from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions on market operations, governing laws, and complex financial crimes driven by fintech innovations. The initiative aims to boost investor and issuer confidence by ensuring transparent market operations and the effective enforcement of the CMA Act, Collective Investment Scheme Act, and Securities Central Depository Act.
