The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) updated the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List to add secondary sanctions risk and new designations to Clan del Golfo. The entity was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) under Executive Order 13224, as amended by Executive Order 13886. These changes classify the Colombian group as a transnational terrorist group and criminal organization subject to illicit drug trafficking sanctions.
