Appraisals for Higher-Priced Mortgage Loans Exemption Threshold

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are finalizing amendments to adjust the exemption threshold for appraisals on higher-priced mortgage loans. Based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, the exemption amount increases from $31,000 to $32,400, effective January 1, 2024. The agencies are also updating official interpretations to reflect this annual inflation adjustment and the methodology for handling periods with no CPI-W increase.
