The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision to withdraw 50 pfennig convertible mark banknotes from circulation. Commercial banks are required to process these withdrawals between January 1, 2003, and March 31, 2003, while the notes remain legal tender for payments until December 31, 2002. After January 1, 2003, the banknotes cease to be legal tender and cannot be used to settle any obligations.

Pursuant to Article 39 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina", No. 1/97 and 29/02), the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 16th session held on October 16, 2002, adopts
DECISION on the withdrawal from circulation of Convertible Mark banknotes, denomination of 50 pfenniga
The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: the Central Bank) withdraws from circulation Convertible Mark banknotes with a denomination of 50 pfenniga, which are in circulation as legal tender pursuant to the Decision on the Issuance and Introduction into Circulation of Convertible Mark Banknotes ("Official Gazette of BiH", No. 10/98).
The withdrawal of banknotes from paragraph 1 of this Decision shall be carried out by commercial banks starting from January 1, 2003, through March 31, 2003.
The Central Bank will accept the withdrawn banknotes from paragraph 1 of this Decision from commercial banks through designated vaults.
Holders of the banknotes from paragraph 1 of this Decision may freely make payments with these banknotes in transactions through December 31, 2002.
Starting from January 1, 2003, the banknotes from paragraph 1 of this Decision cease to be legal tender and cannot be accepted in transactions for the settlement of any obligations.
This Decision shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH", and shall also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH" and the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Srpska".
