Pilot Project for Remunerated Passenger Transportation Services Requested via Mobile Application
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) issued this notice regarding the Quebec pilot project that authorizes designated taxi intermediaries to provide mobile app-based passenger transport services. The AMF requires permit holders, specifically Uber Canada Inc. and Coop de solidarité Eva, to maintain a dedicated liability insurance contract that automatically covers partner-drivers during active trips while mandating that those drivers notify their personal insurers and comply with the Automobile Insurance Act. This insurance framework remains integral to the pilot project, which was amended in January 2019 and extended until October 2019 to accommodate additional eligible operators.
