Real-Time Public Reporting Requirements and Swap Data Recordkeeping and Reporting Requirements

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission proposes revisions to 17 CFR Parts 43 and 45 to update real-time public reporting and swap data recordkeeping requirements for market participants and swap data repositories. The proposal would permit continued geographic masking for "other commodity" asset class swaps following Unique Product Identifier designation, add new data fields to reporting appendices to align with international CPMI-IOSCO standards, and implement conforming and non-substantive updates to existing data element descriptions. These amendments aim to enhance market surveillance, mitigate counterparty identity disclosure risks, and harmonize U.S. swap data reporting with global regulatory frameworks to support accurate aggregation of over-the-counter derivatives transaction data.
