Request for Information on Potential Actions to Address Payments Fraud

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Reserve System, and FDIC jointly issued a request for information seeking public input on potential regulatory and supervisory actions to mitigate check, ACH, wire, and instant payments fraud. The agencies are evaluating five key areas—external collaboration, consumer and industry education, regulation and supervision, fraud data collection, and Reserve Bank operator tools—to identify effective collective or independent measures. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments by the specified deadline to help shape policies that protect consumers and businesses while strengthening the safety, accessibility, and efficiency of the U.S. payments system.
