Supervisory Relief to Help Financial Institutions and Facilitate Recovery in Areas of Alaska Affected by Severe Storms, Flooding, and Remnants of Typhoon Halong

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) issued FIL-51-2025 to grant regulatory relief to supervised financial institutions in designated Alaska areas affected by severe storms, flooding, and Typhoon Halong. The order permits prudent loan restructuring and term adjustments without supervisory criticism, awards favorable Community Reinvestment Act consideration for disaster-related community development activities, and extends reporting and publishing deadlines upon notification to the San Francisco Regional Office. Institutions may also expedite temporary banking facility approvals and utilize Regulation Z’s emergency waiver of the three-day loan rescission period to sustain customer services during recovery.
