Supervisory Relief to Help Financial Institutions and Facilitate Recovery in Areas of Tennessee Affected by Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Tornadoes, and Flooding

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued FIL-24-2025 to grant regulatory relief to supervised financial institutions operating in nine Tennessee counties severely impacted by recent storms, winds, tornadoes, and flooding. The order permits prudent loan restructuring and term extensions without adverse criticism, accelerates temporary facility approvals, extends reporting and publishing deadlines for affected branches, and grants favorable Community Reinvestment Act consideration for disaster-related investments. Institutions are directed to proactively collaborate with distressed borrowers, notify the Dallas Regional Office of filing delays or facility needs, and evaluate loan modifications under applicable accounting standards to support long-term community recovery.
