Decision on the Issuance of Convertible Mark Banknotes in Denominations of 10, 20, 50, and 100 Convertible Marks

The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision on April 26, 2012, to put into circulation new 10, 20, 50, and 100 Convertible Mark banknotes printed with the 2012 issue year. These banknotes, available in both Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska versions, are declared equal legal tender throughout the country and must be accepted by all public and private entities. The Central Bank will progressively introduce these notes into circulation starting June 1, 2012, while previously issued banknotes remain valid legal tender.

Based on Article 2, paragraph 3, item h, Article 7, item e, Article 39, and Article 42 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH" numbers: 1/97, 29/02, 13/03, 14/03, 09/05, 76/06, and 32/07), in accordance with the Policy for the Production of Cash – Convertible Mark 100-UV number: 78/10 dated May 26, 2010, the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 4th session held on April 26, 2012, adopts

DECISION on the issuance of convertible mark banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, and 100 convertible marks

Article 1. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has printed convertible mark banknotes (hereinafter: KM) in denominations of 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM, and 100 KM, in accordance with the Decision of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 100-UV number: 140/11 dated April 27, 2011.

Article 2. The KM banknotes referred to in Article 1 of this Decision have basic features and design as fully determined by the Decision on the basic features and design of convertible mark banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, and 100 convertible marks ("Official Gazette of BiH", 22/11).

Article 3. The KM banknotes from the preceding article of this Decision were printed with the issue year "2012", in the version of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the version of the Republika Srpska.

Article 4. Both versions of the KM banknotes from this Decision are, under the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, equal, and all public and private institutions and establishments, legal and natural persons are obliged to accept them at their nominal value as legal tender when offered in cash transactions, or in settlement and payment of any obligations towards them, throughout the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Article 5. Starting from June 1, 2012, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina will, through the Central Office, main units, and branches, put the banknotes from this Decision into circulation successively, in accordance with the inventory of banknote stocks and the plan for issuing banknotes into circulation.

Article 6. KM banknotes in circulation whose basic features and design are determined by the Decision on the issuance and putting into circulation of convertible mark banknotes ("Official Gazette of BiH", 10/98) continue to represent legal tender in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Article 7. This Decision enters into force on the day of publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH", and shall also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH", the "Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska", and the "Official Gazette of the Brčko District of BiH".
