Notice regarding the impact on FCSA operations following adoption of Bill 141
The Autorité des marchés financiers issued this notice to detail how Bill 141 amended section 179.1 of the Automobile Insurance Act, effective July 13, 2018. Insurers may now consult the Fichier central des sinistres automobiles without prior client inquiry, provided they document confirmation of the retrieved claims data for Groupement des assureurs automobiles compliance audits. This update terminates previous transitional measures and requires insurers to align their consultation practices with the revised legislative framework governing automobile insurance applications and renewals.
