The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are finalizing amendments to adjust the exemption threshold for consumer leases under Regulation M. Effective January 1, 2025, the dollar threshold for exempt consumer leases increases from $69,500 to $71,900 based on the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. The Agencies are also updating official interpretations to reflect this inflation-adjusted amount and the methodology for future annual calculations.
