The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation proposes to amend its regulations to remove requirements for insured state nonmember banks and insured branches of foreign banks to submit statements regarding compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act for branch establishment and relocation applications. The agency determined that these statutory considerations are not legally required for such applications and that their removal aligns FDIC procedures with those of other federal banking agencies. The proposal also includes the rescission of related statements of policy to streamline the regulatory framework and eliminate unnecessary burdens on applicants.
