Supervisory Relief to Help Financial Institutions and Facilitate Recovery in Areas of West Virginia Affected by Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Flooding, Landslides, and Mudslides

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued regulatory relief for FDIC-supervised financial institutions in West Virginia’s Marion and Ohio Counties following severe storms, flooding, and landslides that caused significant property damage in June 2025. The agency encourages prudent loan restructuring and extended repayment terms, grants favorable Community Reinvestment Act consideration for disaster-related investments, and waives or delays certain filing and publishing requirements for affected branches. Institutions must notify the Atlanta Regional Office of anticipated reporting delays or requests for temporary banking facilities, while consumers may waive three-day rescission periods under Regulation Z to address bona fide financial emergencies.
