The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a Decision establishing the basic features and design of convertible mark (KM) banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 KM. The regulation mandates that 10, 20, 50, and 100 KM notes be printed in two distinct versions for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, while the 200 KM note features a single unified design. All specified notes are declared legal tender throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, with existing notes remaining valid and new designs incorporating specific security features, portraits of notable writers, and tactile indicators for the visually impaired.
Based on Article 2, paragraph 3, item h), Article 7, item e), Article 39, and Article 42, paragraph 1 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH", nos. 1/97, 29/02, 8/03, 13/03, 14/03, 9/05, 76/06 and 32/07), with the approval of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina given by Conclusion no. 01-50-1-779-2/26 dated 19.03.2026, the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 4th session held on 27.04.2026, adopts
on the basic features and design of convertible mark banknotes denominations 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 convertible marks
Article 1. (Subject of the Decision) This Decision establishes the basic features and design of convertible mark banknotes (hereinafter: KM), in denominations of 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM, 100 KM and 200 KM, as legal tender in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Article 2. (Versions of KM Banknotes) (1) KM banknotes in denominations of 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM and 100 KM are printed in two versions – the version of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the version of Republika Srpska, which have certain common as well as certain separate design elements established by the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, respectively, Republika Srpska, which characterize the respective versions of KM banknotes. (2) KM banknotes in the denomination of 200 KM are printed in one design version.
Article 3. (Features of KM Banknotes) All KM banknotes from Article 2 have appropriate security features, paper quality and manufacturing, in accordance with the standards established by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Article 4. (Legal Tender) All KM banknotes from this Decision are in accordance with the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, equal in status, and all public and private institutions and establishments, legal and natural persons are obliged to accept them at their nominal value as legal tender when offered in cash transactions, or in settlement and payment of any obligations towards them, throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Article 5. (Design Elements of KM Banknotes) (1) The basic design elements of KM banknotes from Article 1 of this Decision are:
(2) On the version of KM banknotes of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from Article 2, paragraph (1) of this Decision, the text from paragraph (1) item b) of this Article is printed in Latin script, while the texts from paragraph (1) items d), e) and f) of this Article are first printed in Latin, and then below in Cyrillic script.
(3) On the version of KM banknotes of Republika Srpska from Article 2, paragraph (1) of this Decision, the text from paragraph (1) item b) of this Article is printed in Cyrillic script, while the texts from paragraph (1) items d), e) and f) of this Article are first printed in Cyrillic, and then below in Latin script.
(4) On the KM banknote in the denomination of 200 KM from Article 2, paragraph (2) of this Decision, the texts from paragraph (1) items b), d), e) and f) of this Article are printed in Latin and Cyrillic script in an alternating order.
(5) All KM banknotes have the same arrangement of design elements listed in paragraph (1) items b) to h) of this Article.
Article 6. (Other Features of KM Banknotes) In addition to the design elements from Article 5 of this Decision, each KM banknote also contains the following features which are not design elements of KM banknotes:
Article 7. (Size and Color of the 10 KM Banknote) (1) The 10 KM banknote is of dimensions 130 mm x 65 mm. (2) On the face and back of the 10 KM banknote, various shades of orange and blue colors predominate.

Article 10. (Size and Color of the 20 KM Banknote) (1) The 20 KM banknote is of dimensions 138 mm x 68 mm. (2) On the face and back of the 20 KM banknote, various shades of gray-brown and green colors predominate.

Article 16. (Size and Color of the 100 KM Banknote) (1) The 100 KM banknote is of dimensions 154 mm x 74 mm. (2) On the face and back of the 100 KM banknote, various shades of brown and purple colors predominate.

Article 19. (Size and Color of the 200 KM Banknote) (1) The 200 KM banknote is of dimensions 156 mm x 76 mm. (2) On the face and back of the 200 KM banknote, various shades of blue and yellow colors predominate.
Article 20. (Face of the 200 KM Banknote) On the face of the 200 KM banknote, there is a portrait of Ivo Andrić with his first and last name printed in the manner established by Article 5, paragraph (4) of this Decision and year of birth and death noted at the bottom of the portrait on the left side;
Article 21. (Back of the 200 KM Banknote) On the back of the 200 KM banknote, there is a motif of the Bridge on the Drina below which, on the right side, the text “MOST NA DRINI” (Bridge on the Drina) is printed in the manner established by Article 5, paragraph (4) of this Decision.
Article 22. (Validity of Previously Issued KM Banknotes) KM banknotes in circulation whose basic features and design were established by the Decision on the Basic Features and Design of Convertible Mark Banknotes of Denominations 10, 20, 50 and 100 Convertible Marks ("Official Gazette of BiH", no. 22/11) and the Decision on the Issuance, Basic Features and Putting into Circulation of the Convertible Mark Banknote in the Denomination of 200 KM ("Official Gazette of BiH", no. 11/02) remain legal tender.
Article 23. (Transitional Provisions) In accordance with this Decision, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina will adopt separate decisions on the printing and putting into circulation of KM banknotes whose basic features and design are established by this Decision.
Article 24. (Termination of Validity of Provisions) With the entry into force of this Decision, item 22 of the Decision on the Basic Features and Design of Convertible Mark Banknotes of Denominations 10, 20, 50 and 100 Convertible Marks ("Official Gazette of BiH", no. 22/11) ceases to be valid.
Article 25. (Entry into Force) (1) This Decision enters into force on the eighth day from the date of publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH". (2) This Decision will also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina", "Official Gazette of Republika Srpska" and "Official Gazette of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina".
