Regulation (NAP) - Bank and Branch Numerator

The Central Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe issued this Permanent Application Standard to establish a unified coding system for domestic banking institutions and branches, aligning with the existing NIB structure. It mandates that all operating banks be classified under a specific institutional and branch coding framework, with the Central Bank retaining authority to classify new entities. Given the necessity to create a coding system for banking institutions operating in the Country, following the NIB structure adopted in NAP No. 07 of December 31, 2002, the Central Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe, exercising its competence attributed by Law No. 8/92, determines:

ARTICLE 1 Banking institutions are subject to the following classification: a) Central Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe b) International Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe

PROPOSER(S) DI ARTICLE 2 It shall be the responsibility of the Central Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe to classify new Banks or branches in accordance with NAP No. 07 of December 31, 2002.

ARTICLE 3 Banks have a maximum period of 3 months from this date to implement the present NAP.
