RG 236 Do I need an AFS licence to participate in carbon markets

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission issued Regulatory Guide 236 to assist participants in the Australian Carbon Credit Units Scheme and other carbon market actors in determining if an Australian Financial Services licence is required. The document clarifies licensing obligations for those engaging in carbon abatement activities, entering related contracts, or providing financial product advice and services within these markets. It also directs readers to additional ASIC publications and explains the application process for relief through the ASIC Regulatory Portal.
