Guidance to Help Financial Institutions and Facilitate Recovery in Areas of Nebraska Affected by Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, and Tornadoes

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) issued regulatory relief measures to assist supervised financial institutions in Nebraska’s Douglas and Washington Counties recover from severe storms, straight-line winds, and tornadoes. Banks are encouraged to extend repayment terms, restructure loans, and monitor municipal investments without examiner criticism, while qualifying for favorable Community Reinvestment Act consideration. The agency will also grant flexibility on filing and publishing deadlines, expedite requests for temporary banking facilities, and waive or modify rescission periods to address disaster-related operational disruptions.
